Mary Ann (Lowe) Allan

Mary Ann Lowe Allan, 85, of Maugansville, MD, passed on High, Monday, March 12, 2018 at Twin Oaks Assisted Living in Williamsport, MD. Born Wednesday, July 6, 1932 in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dr. William C. Lowe and Mary G. Thompson Lowe Berkstresser. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Thomas Bradley Allan, who passed, Tuesday, December 5, 2017, and her beloved son, William E. Allan. Mary Ann retired in 1991 after 25 years of service with Maugansville Elevator & Lumber Company. She was a meditation mentor, teaching on an individual and group basis since 1985. Mary Ann taught the art of meditation through the Hagerstown Community College, Continuing Education Department, and the Washington County Recreation Department. She was a member of the Washington County Hospital Auxiliary serving in the volunteer for surgical support service chaplain program since its inception in 1994. Mary Ann was a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church, member of the Hagerstown Business & Professional Woman’s Club where she was recognized as the 1989 Woman of the Year. She was also a member of Queen Esther Chapter #3 OES; a congregational member of Astara; Hagerstown Affiliated Study Group of Homeopathy; a charter member of the Tri-State Chapter of the Middletown Chapter of OSL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00pm at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St. Williamsport, MD, 21795, with Pastor Susan Boehl officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
