Barbara Ann (Schaffer) Brockey

Barbara Ann (Schaffer) Brockey, 87, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 26, 2019. Originally from Cumberland, MD, Barbara was born on June 11, 1932 and was the daughter of the late Carl Frederick Schaffer and Elizabeth Ann (Kaddy) Schaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul K. Brockey, Sr., her sisters Shirley Moore and Dorothy Darber all from Cumberland; her grandson Michael Brockey from Frederick, MD; her great granddaughter Kensie Brockey from Boonsboro, MD. Barbara was a fulltime homemaker, mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother. Barbara was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains and enjoyed music, dancing, shopping and taking care of her dog Miss Annie. She also enjoyed her time living at the farm in Smithsburg with her son and daughter Paul and Darlene and sitting on the porch watching all the animals. Surviving are two sons Paul, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Smithsburg, MD and Vincent and his wife Beverly of Cumberland, MD and daughter Donna Bauman of Cumberland, MD; grandchildren Timothy Brockey and wife Annie and Gizmo of Middletown, MD; Anthony Brockey and wife Crystal of Boonsboro, MD; great children Kaige, Ella, Addison, Zack, Karlie, Jake and Natalie. Nieces and Nephews Chris Ralston, Billie Williams, Fred Darber, Gerry and Jeffrey Brockey all of Cumberland, MD. The family would like to extend our thanks and deep appreciation to Hospice of Washington County for their support and dedicated service to both Barbara and the family. Special thanks to Caitlin, Heather, Father Michael, Carissa, Amanda and Rick. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held in Cumberland on July 20, 2019 starting at 11AM at Our Lady of the Mountains, Saint Patrick’s Church on Centre Street.
