Charles "Nevin" Frey, Sr.

Charles “Nevin” Frey, Sr. 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home. Born Wednesday, January 10, 1934 near Smithsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Harry L. Frey, Sr. and Naomi Catherine (Smith) Frey. He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School class of 1952. Nevin was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church of Hagerstown. He was a past employee of Superior Dairy, was a herdsman on numerous dairy farms before becoming a self-employed dairy farmer and retired from Snavely’s Garden Corner in 2016. Nevin is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara May (Wasson) Frey whom he married January 17, 1955, sons, Charles Nevin Frey, Jr. and wife Jane and Joseph Frey and wife Debbie, daughters, Nevalene Uzelac and husband Curtis and Tamara Frey, grandchildren, Angela Koontz and husband James, Rhonda Uzelac, Shannon Uzelac, Amanda Frey, Melissa Bruchey and husband Doug, Justin Frey, Katie Frey and Timothy Frey, sister, Margaret Ann Ridenour, brothers, Harry L. Frey, Jr. and Gerald Frey, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Ginn, Lucille Doyle and Naomi Catherine Durham and brothers, James Frey, Robert Frey, Thurman Frey, Donald Frey and Mark Frey. Services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00am at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Dionne Osuji officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Charles Nevin Frey, Sr. to Shiloh United Methodist Church Building and Improvement Fund, 19731 Shiloh Church Rd. Hagerstown, MD, 21742.
