Harold Francis McPherson

Harold Francis McPherson (89) Went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Doey’s House (Hospice) in Hagerstown, Maryland; surrounded by his Sons. Born Sunday, Jan. 13, 1929 in Sabillasville, MD, he was the son of the late Esther Marie McPherson (Buhrman) and Lewis William McPherson. Harold was an active member of Assemblies of God Church, from youth, where he met, his future wife, Margaret. He was an Army Veteran and was awarded the Army Medal of Good Conduct during his time stationed in Germany (an assignment which had a positive, life-long impact on him). Harold and Margaret married in April 1959 and eventually settled in Leitersburg, Maryland; after Margaret’s passing (Jan. 2003- 44 years), Harold moved back to the house that he was born in, on the home farm, now owned by his Nephew- The family wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Gary McPherson, who gave innumerable hours of care and assistance. Harold was a faithful Christian, devoted husband and Father. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and reading. He is survived by his Brother Joda McPherson and wife Betty McPherson; Sister Mary McPherson (Richards) and Husband Paul Richards, sister Ruth McPherson (Degon) and husband Neil Degon, as well as three sons, Ronald McPherson, Darryl McPherson & Wife Mary McPherson, and Dennis McPherson & Wife Cathy McPherson, and 6 Grandchildren In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann McPherson (Smith) in 2003; Daughter-in-Law, (Ronald’s wife) Sokpheng Rebecca McPherson in 2015, and Brother George McPherson in 2018. The family will receive friends at J.L. Davis Funeral Home at 12525 Bradbury Ave. Smithsburg, MD 21783 on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Dwan Newsome will officiate. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park of Williamsport, Md.
