Jon Douglas Snyder

Jon Douglas Snyder, 64, of Greensburg Rd., Smithsburg, MD, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born December 1, 1954 in Hancock, MD, he was the son of Howard Beckley Snyder and the late Natalie Jane (Lynch) Snyder. He was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Chewsville, MD, where he was a member of the choir and served on the board of trustees. He retired from the R.V. industry after many years of service at Charlie’s Camping Center in Randallstown, MD. In addition to his father, Jon is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elaine Snyder whom he married July 14, 1973, daughter, Christie Phillips and husband Jason, son, Jon David Snyder and wife Teri Jo “T.J.”, granddaughters, Natalie Paige Phillips, Jordyn Ashlee Phillips, Makayla Brooke Phillips, Abigail Elizabeth Snyder and Madison Nicole Snyder, grandson, Owen Christopher Snyder, brothers, Larry Snyder and wife Debbie, Alan Snyder and wife Cindy, Terry Snyder and wife Debbie and Steven Snyder and wife Donna, canine companion Sheldon and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Snyder. A visitation will be held Friday, August 30, 2019 from 6-8pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD. A celebration of Jon’s life will be held Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10:00am at Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, MD, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Jon Douglas Snyder to, Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA, 17268 or to a medical charity of one’s choice.
