Ray B. Walter, Jr. 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, May 28, 2018, at Meritus Medical Center. He was born on June 16, 1942, in Johnstown, PA, and was the son of the late Ray B. Walter, Sr. and Caroline (Berglof) Walter. Ray was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was a member of AMVETS Post 10 in Hagerstown and the American Legion Post 202 in Williamsport. He attended Church of the Nazarene in Hagerstown. Ray was the founder and owner of Walter’s Construction Company for 50 years. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Martell Walter, three sons, Lenny and wife Deann, Matt and wife Carmen and Rick and wife Lisa, four grandsons, Brandon, Nate, and twins Gabe and Tad, one step-grandson, Tony Mattingly, one sister, Nancy Stopko of Johnstown, PA, and two much-loved cats, Corey and Taco. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sandra Lee. A private family memorial service is being planned for later in the summer at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. J.L.
