Roy Edgar "Bubby" Gesford

Roy Edgar “Bubby” Gesford, 85, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 28, 1933, he was the son of the late Emmert and Lela (Linebaugh) Gesford. Roy retired from Rustoleum Corporation of Williamsport, MD, after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the United States Army, dispatched to Austria, Germany and Italy, working in communications. It was Austria where he met his future wife Hedy. Roy was an incredibly talented man that could master anything. He was especially good at all facets of construction and maintenance and lawn and garden. His gardens deserved to be in award winning publications. But where he truly shined was with his handcrafted wood creations. His skilled craftmanship was second to none. Roy is survived by his wife Hedy Gesford, son, Charlie Gesford and wife Mary, granddaughter Danielle, grandson Parker and two sisters, Louise Kline and Alice Donaldson both of Hagerstown. Roy was preceded in death by one brother, Richard “Pete” Gesford and one sister, Edna Pryor. Services will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 8:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Terry W. Culler officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8pm, one hour prior to the service.
