Betty Marie (Miller) Monn

Betty M. Monn, 91, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Friday, September 10, 2021. She was born on February 13, 1930, in Pondsville, MD. She is the daughter of the late Amanda and William “Shorty” Miller. Betty is survived by three sons, Terry Monn and wife Pat of Converse, TX; Lloyd “Bud” Monn and wife Helen of State Line, PA; and Wayne Monn and wife Melissa of Hagerstown, MD; two daughters, Connie Draper of Smithsburg, MD; and Brenda Sauter and husband Ray of Falling Waters, WV; one brother, Jonathan “Dutch” Miller; one sister, Lois “Joe” Imes; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, David N. “Johnnie” Monn; one son, David Monn; two sisters, Della D’Aquino and Delores Harne; one brother, William Miller; one granddaughter, Rebekah Price; and one son-in-law, Junior Draper. She attended Smithsburg High School. She met and married her husband Johnnie in 1949. They were married for 55 years. She worked as a seamstress and in later years as a domestic worker. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She attended Black Rock Bible Church and enjoyed greeting and talking with everyone. She was a well know avid listener and participant in Lou Scalley’s phone party on radio station WJEJ. She was well loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 10:00am at Black Rock Bible Church, Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Dennis Siegloff and Pastor Guy Nesbitt officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.
