Carolyn Elaine (Kauffman) Mongan

Carolyn Elaine Mongan, 75, of Leitersburg, MD, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born October 2, 1946, in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Kauffman and Beulah Jane (Brown) Kauffman. She attended Paramount Brethren in Christ Church, where she was active with the youth and children’s programs. She was a member of the Leitersburg Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered many years at the Leitersburg Peach Festival. She was an avid bowler and member of many bowling leagues in the area. She was employed several years by Gardenhour Orchards of Smithsburg working in the packing house. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband Kenneth Lee Mongan, Sr., four children, Kenneth L. Mongan, Jr. and wife Bobbi, Karen L. Mongan Metz and husband Mike, Kirk L. Mongan and wife Sue and Kerri L. Mongan Mapes and husband Scott, six grandchildren, Kyle Mongan (Katie), Megan Bromley (Dylan Tyler), Kourteney Vaughn (Austin), Konrad Mongan, Brayden Crabtree and Brynley Crabtree, one step grandson, Aiden Mapes, one great granddaughter, Layton Tyler and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Eugene Kauffman and Charles Earl Kauffman and one half-sister, Anna Mae “Dee” McCarney. Services will be held Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 10:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Jacob Harrison and Pastor Dave Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
