Joyce Mae (Cox) Reed

Joyce Mae Reed “Gram”, of Thurmont MD, passed away on September 17, 2022, in Waynesboro PA. Joyce Mae Reed was born on October 23, 1944, in Elizabethtown, KY. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Cox and Lula Mae Cox. She was a homemaker for many years, raising 5 children of her own, and later helping with lots of grandbabies. She was a bookkeeper for many years at Reed Construction and A&T Sales. Later, working for herself in residential housekeeping. She was a caretaker for her mother until passing, as well as her brother Louie Cox, and sister Gola Cox. Gram loved walks, going for rides, and spending time at church. She was a sucker for a coke and loved ice cream. Joyce Mae Reed is proceeded in death by her husband, Davis Reed and Clownie Reed, son, Wayne Reed, Brother Louie Reed, Amos Cox, and sister Gola Cox. Joyce Mae Reed Is survived by four children, Glenn Reed and wife Charleen, Deana Mckendrick and husband Brian, Toni Cole and Husband Jeffrey, and Joni Cole and husband Jonathan, grandchildren, Lindsey Edleblute, Justin Reed, Danielle Poole, Marlee Flook, Christopher Sigler, Davis Reed, Luke Smith, Hallie Vanover, Dalton Reed, Reed Smith, Holden Cole, and many great-grandchildren, best friend Darleen Sullivan and many more extended families. Visitation from friends will be held 6pm-8pm Friday, September 23, at Mt Pleasant Church of God, 24107 Foxville RD, Smithsburg MD 21783. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 24, at Mt Pleasant Church of God. Pastor Nancy Lewis will be officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 9501 Catoctin Mountain Highway, Frederick MD, 21701. The church will be providing a meal after the burial, and all are welcome to join.
