Terry L. Hayes

Terry L. Hayes, 73, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Tidal Health Hospital in Salisbury, MD. Born October 17, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Theodore and Julia (Jacques) Hayes. He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School class of 1967 and attended Radio Electronics Training School in Baltimore, MD. Terry lived most of his life in Smithsburg, MD, until October 2019 when he resided at Williamsport Retirement Village in Williamsport, MD, and then moved to Somerset Community Services Facilities near Salisbury, MD. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Smithsburg, MD, a member of the Smithsburg Historical Society and a member of the Puppeteers of America. Terry was an avid puppeteer and folk artist. He participated in local parades and festivals throughout his adult life. He was employed by Theatre Effects in Hagerstown, MD, for 14 years. Terry is survived by one sister, Nancy Roisum of Salisbury, MD, and many cousins. His wishes were to donate his body to science. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 22, 2020 at 3:00pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Virgil Cain officiating.
