Christopher David Copley, 53, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at his home. Born Tuesday, July 13, 1965 in Santa Montica, CA, he was the son of Marion (Frazier) Copley of Marina Del Rey, CA, and the late Eric Copley. He was a graduate of Venice High School in Los Angeles, CA, class of 1983 and Santa Monica College. Chris was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and enjoyed being on the water. He cherished his time spent with his grandchildren, family and friends and will be missed by many. He was employed by Northrup Grumman, formerly Orbital Sciences Corp, of Sterling, VA, as a senior principal technician. He was a member of American Legion Post 239 of Cascade, MD. Chris is survived by his wife of 18 years, Elizabeth L. (Riffle) Copley whom he married August 8, 2000, stepdaughters, Meagan Fahrney and significant other Amanda Houser and Emily Stover and husband Charles, stepson, Daniel Fahrney and wife Courtney, grandchildren, Lilly Snively, Aubrey Fahrney, Emma Fahrney, Chase Stover and Delaney Stover, brother, Mark Elias, nieces, Melissa Chavira and Monique Elias and nephews, Marcus Elias and Matthew Elias.
