Gary William Hawker, 71, of Orrstown, PA, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Hospice Care Unit of Martinsburg, WV.
Born Friday, July 25, 1947 in Mankato, MN, he was the son of the late Harold William Hawker and Rosella Catherine (Drummer) Hawker.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Eileen (Duley) Hawker, September 11, 2017.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army as a crawler / Tractor operator. While in service, Gary earned the National Defense Metal, Vietnam Campaign Metal, Vietnam Service Metal and Expert Badge Rifle M14.
Gary was a member of the American Legion in Lake Crystal, MN.
He was employed by R&G of Gaithersburg, MD, Airflow of Frederick, MD and retired from Drymatic of Baton Rouge, LA.
Gary is survived by sons, Randy Hawker and wife Kristin and Richard Hawker and wife Laura, grandchildren, Sarah Topper and husband Brian, Bryce Hawker, Braiden Hawker and Rylee Hawker, great-grandchild, Sophia Topper, brothers, Larry Hawker and wife Bev, Jerry Hawker and wife Marsha, Dan Hawker and wife Karen, John Hawker and wife Julie and Mike Hawker and wife Judy, sisters, Marylou Karels and husband Tom, Pat Frank and husband Tim, Diane Frank and husband Mark and Nancy Bryant and husband Larry, sister-in-law, Deb Hawker and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Hawker and Bill Hawker.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Sid Duley officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Gary Hawker to the Veterans Administration Medical Center, 510 Butler Ave. Martinsburg, WV, 25405.
