Howard "Leon" Delauter

Howard Leon Delauter, Jr., 81, of Greensburg, MD, passed away Friday, August 16, 2019 at Hospice of Washington County, Doey’s House, of Hagerstown, MD. Born Wednesday, November 10, 1937 near Foxville, MD, he was the son of the late Howard Leon Delauter, Sr. and Nina A. (Lewis) Delauter. He attended Thurmont schools. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. Leon was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Greensburg, MD, the 29th Infantry Division, the NRA, and a life member of the Potomac Fish and Game Club. He retired from Eastern Organ Company, formerly M.P. Moller, of Hagerstown, MD. Leon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edith Marie (Miller) Delauter whom he married June 10, 1960, daughters, Tina Moyer and husband Earl and Cindy Davis and husband William, grandchildren, Lars Davis, Blaine Davis and Mia Leonna Moyer, sisters, Geraldine Reck and husband Jerry, Phyllis Cline and Arlene Beard and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one infant brother and one infant sister. Services will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Greensburg, MD, with Pastor Julie Brigham officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD.
