Joanne Louise (Fennell) Burtner

Joanne L. Burtner, 86, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center of Hagerstown. Born Thursday, May 14, 1931 in East Brady, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. Fennell and Mildred (Clark) Fennell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richard L. Burtner, December 21, 2007. They were married December 27, 1952. She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Youngstown, OH. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hagerstown. Joanne is survived by sons, Lawrence Burtner of Youngstown, OH, Tim Burtner of Hagerstown, MD, Todd Burtner of York, PA, Daniel Burtner of Greencastle, PA and Christopher Burtner of Smithsburg, MD, brother, Walter Fennell of Florida, sister, Gloria Grazanio of California, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Millerlieie. There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 2:00pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hagerstown, MD. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
