Jody Rosenberry Obituary

Jody Craig Rosenberry, 60, of Clear Spring, MD, and formerly of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Meritus Medical Center, from complications following a fall at his home. He passed away in the loving arms of his wife Cheryl and surrounded by family and friends. Jody was born July 29, 1958 in Hagerstown, MD. He was the son of Janet L. (Rosenberry) Purdham and Kenneth G. Purdham. He was preceded in death by one brother Kenneth G. Purdham, Jr. and a very special uncle Bard L. (Sonny) Rosenberry. He is survived by his loving wife and bestest friend Cheryl L. (Palmer) Rosenberry; his mother Janet L. (Rosenberry) Purdham, of Boonsboro, MD; his father Kenneth G. Purdham and wife Judy of Falling Waters, WV; his sister Jan Pine of Williamsport, MD; his daughter Jaime Kennedy, husband Dustin, and grandsons Logan and Landen of Waynesboro, PA; his son Joseph (Joey) Morrow, wife Kelli, and grandchildren Emmalyn and Luke, of Martinsburg, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends, notably his cousin Monty Rosenberry of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, and his furry little terror, Scooby. Jody graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1976 where he was a member of the band. In his early career he was a trained electrician. He later became a drywall mechanic and was truly a master at his craft. He was a member of the Improved Order of Redmen, Conococheague Tribe #84, Williamsport, MD; and the Goodwill Athletic Association (Little Club), Hagerstown, MD. He was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Jody was a Civil War buff, regaling family and friends with the history he so loved. He was a beach bum at heart and loved spending time on the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD and in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Jody was passionate about dirt track racing, especially sprint cars. Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Thursday, September 27, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Avenue, Smithsburg, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 11 am at the funeral home. Rev. Gregory P. Shook will officiate. Burial will follow at the Garfield United Methodist Church cemetery, 13628 Stottlemyer Road, Smithsburg, MD. Please do not be sad dear family and friends. Raise a glass or drink a beer and keep in your heart your fondest memories of Jody. Please feel free to dress casually for all the services and wear your favorite racing shirt if you have one.
