Rhoda M. (Heishman) Martin

Rhoda M. Martin, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 at Sterling Care of South Mountain, Boonsboro, MD. Born Tuesday, August 21, 1934 in Wardensville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Russell James Heishman and Opal Vort (Frye) Heishman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gene Tunney Martin who passed away June 27, 2016. Rhoda was a member of St. Peters Beards Lutheran Church of Hagerstown. She retired from C.M. Offray & Sons (Maryland Ribbon) of Hagerstown in 1995. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved to garden. Rhoda is survived by daughter, Jerri K. Martin (Bobby Lumm), son, Daryll G. Martin (Elizabeth Boggs), sisters, Carol L. Parker (Merrill) and Sadie Stuckey, brother, Irvin M. Heishman (Ann), and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James M. Heishman and Roscoe N. Heishman. Services will be held Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Rev. Thomas L. Perry officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.jldavisfh.com.
