Richard William Burker

Richard William “Billy” Burker, 61, of Hagerstown, MD, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He was born on June 21, 1957 in Hagerstown and was the son of the late Henry Richard Burker and Catherine Myrtle (Harrison) Sagi. Billy served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Antietam Fire Company #2, Independent Junior Fire Company #3, Clear Spring Volunteer Fire Company, Washington County Rescue Company #28 and the Hagerstown Community Rescue Service. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending summer holidays at Cowan’s Gap Sate Park. He was also an avid Bingo Player and could often be found at the Western Enterprise Fire Company’s Saturday Night Bingo. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Rose Marie Burker, daughter, Terri Burker, brothers, Lee Guessford and Kenneth Guessford, sisters, Catherine Carbaugh and Debby Taylor, grandsons, Tyrese Hawkins and Dontay Burker, aunt, Joyce Shoemaker and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 6pm at Western Enterprise Fire Company’s Bingo Hall in the rear of the fire station, enter from the alley at the rear of the building.
