Rita Carriero Obituary

Rita Joan DiComo Carriero, a resident of Manor Care, Chambersburg, formerly of Sanford Fl, Needmore PA and Dumont NJ, went home to Jesus on Saturday October 12, 2019 at the Wellspan Hospital in York PA, with her children by her side. Born on May 14, 1944 in Engelwood NJ, the daughter of John M. (DiGiacomo) and Julia Alice (Troutman) DiComo of Dumont NJ. Rita graduated St. Cecilia High School in Engelwood NJ in 1962 and then married her high school sweetheart Daniel A. Carriero on July 28, 1962 Her life’s work was to care for her family and to serve God. Rita was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and a 3RD Order Carmelite. Rita is survived by her sister Jude Story, Geneva FL. Daughters, Rosemary (Roey) Martz, (wife of Allan) Hustontown PA, Debra Whitman, (Wife of Scott) Black Hills SD, Lisa Skiles(wife of James) Newville PA, Alyssa DiComo, Newark NJ and Joy Pasquarello, Smithsburg MD. Sons, Daniel Carriero Jr and Michael Carriero, both of Geneva FL. And David Carriero, Shippensburg PA. Grandchildren, Shaida, Sierra (Paul Tomlinson), Cecely, Michell, Allan and Trevor (Cushla) Martz. Michael, Nicole, Matthew, Patience and Raven Whitman, Jesica (Adam Kuhn) and Tanner Skiles. Mariah and Danny Carriero, Shalane and Donovik DiComo, Sarah and Jaiden Pasquarello, Maddison (Brady) and Zachary Carriero. Great Grandchildren, Haze, Paul, Sage, Zelena and Linkyn (Martz) Alec, Adasyn, Ashton, Atlas, Axis, Jordan, Alayna and Vinny (Whitman). Lucille, Jake, Delilah and Sutton (Skiles) Cylee. (Carriero) Mia and Romeo (DiComo) and Dash (Pasquarello). Neices, April DiComo, Mae (Story) Fisher and nephew, Cedar Story She was preceded in death by her father on December 1, 1973 and mother September 19, 2007. Her beloved “Hummy” Daniel A Carriero passed on May 9, 2001. Rita was in mourning recently with the loss of her grandson Brandon Skiles on December 1, 2018 and her brother William DiComo on Febuary 25, 2019. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday October 18, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church 16 E. High St. Hancock MD. 21750 at 12 noon. Fr. John Lombardi will officiate. A visitation with the family is planned for 11 AM in the church vestibule and burial will be after the ceremony. Arrangements were made by J.L.
