Robert Bernard Alexander

Robert Bernard Alexander, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, and formerly of Oakland, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at his home. He attended schools in Preston County, WV, and Garrett County, MD. He graduated from Oakland High School. Robert resumed his college education at Potomac State College, Frostburg State Teacher’s College and the University of West Virginia. He received his degree in teaching from Frostburg, MD. He entered the graduate program at WVU also attending Loyola and Western Maryland College for the required courses for his master’s degree. He began teaching in Maryland Public Schools in Annapolis, MD, and retired from teaching in Baltimore County, MD, after 30 years. He taught summer school at several colleges and universities. He enjoyed the study of Geology and at one time worked in gas and oil exploration. Robert is survived by brother, Howard George Alexander, a very beloved sister, Charlotte M. Boggs, sisters, Gladys Flesher, Norma Gallagher and Juanita Shaffer, beloved niece that he thought the world of, Dawn R. Jones, grand-nephew, Gary Boggs, Sr., many great-nieces and great-nephews and two very best friends, Dr. David Sheets and Brian Shaffer. Services and inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Morgantown, WV. Arrangements were made by J.L.
