Rollin LaVerne Shoemaker, 78, passed away on June 29, 2018 at his home in Frederick, Maryland. He was the widower of Naomi Kathleen Parks Shoemaker. They shared 40 years of marriage together. Born in Santa Barbara, California, he was the son of Opal and Hubert Shoemaker. He earned degrees from Walla Walla College, Oregon State University, Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, and Union Theological Seminary. He was employed as clergy for the Seventh-day Adventist church for 42 years. Also, he worked as a teacher at the elementary and college levels. He was a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians. He enjoyed sports, especially following his favorite football and baseball teams. He will be remembered for being a loving father and husband, a tireless mentor to pastors, a dedicated biblical scholar, and his ability to preach while translating directly from his Greek Bible. His ashes will be interred at Mt. Hope Cemetery in College Place, WA. He is survived by his children Steven (Roxane) Shoemaker, Joel (Chela) Shoemaker, Benjamin (Elaine) Shoemaker, Kathleen (Nickilos) Wolfer, and his ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Naomi, parents Opal and Hubert, sister Nancy, and brother Floyd.
