Virginia Mae (Poythress) Reid

Virginia Mae Poythress Reid, 84, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Meritus Medical Center of Hagerstown, MD. Born Monday, June 26, 1933, in La Crosse, VA, she was the daughter of the late Carthin Lewis Poythress and Matilda Mae (Sadler) Poythress. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Carroll I. Reid, Jr., on March 29, 2009. They were married December 18, 1954. She was a graduate of La Crosse High School. She was employed over the years by the Washington County Public Schools working as a cafeteria aid, drivers education teacher, and retired from the Washington County Job Development Center as a Para Professional in 2007. Virginia is survived by daughter, Patty Muldoon and husband Dave, sons, Louie Reid and wife Teresa, Andy Reid, and Mike Reid and wife Tammy, grandchildren, Jamie Ford, Jonathan Reid and wife Sarah, and Sarah Reid and fiancé Chris Pitek, step-grandchildren, Ami Barker, Rebecca Stull, Anthony Borum, Jr., and James Borum, great-grandchildren, Leslie Ford, and Leila Ford, step-great-grandchildren, Anthony Borum III, Brandon Shaw, and Leighann Mullins, sister, Jeanette Tooley and husband Ron, and several nieces and nephews. There will be no viewing. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 17, 2019 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
