Aaron Clark "A.C." Myers

July 14, 1939 ~ August 12, 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Obituary

Franklin County has lost a loyal native son, Aaron Clark (A.C.) Myers, 84, who died after a year long struggle with cancer. He was kept comfortable during his last hours at Doey's House Hospice in Hagerstown, MD until he passed on August 12, 2023. Born July 14, 1939, he was the only child of Eugene and Martha (Gillan) Myers (proprietor of Lemasters Elevator). A.C. was a graduate of James Buchanan High School class of 1957 and remained active in class leadership and coordinating reunions throughout his life. He immediately enlisted in the USMC and was trained as an electrician and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After being honorably discharged in 1961, he moved to the Washington, DC, area where he attended Montgomery College which was well known for its electrical program. While living there, he met his future wife, Doris Eileen (Detrich), and they were married at Grace Evangelical United Brethren church in Hagerstown MD on March 26, 1966. After college and for most of his working life, A.C was employed by AT&T Long Lines and was especially proud of his work supporting our nation’s secure government communications. He was assigned to offices in the District of Columbia, Clear Spring, MD, and Berryville, VA, until he retired. In 1991, A.C. and Eileen opened the TLC Pet Lodge in Lemasters, PA, where he diligently created order out of chaos and kept things running smoothly behind the scenes. They shared their joint love of animals with all who entered - canines, felines, and humans alike – and developed memorable bonds and friendships that lasted many years. A.C's manner was always reserved and thoughtful, and he was a man of few words and a dry wit. It was his deep sense of duty and his actions that spoke loudly and demonstrated his heartfelt compassion, kindness and caring upon which everyone could rely. He truly exemplified the ageless values of thrift, conservation and stewardship for future generations. He felt just about anything would have some future use and was tinkering right up to the end. He enjoyed the outdoors, collecting, classic western movies, and country western vocals. He was a member of the Franklin County Historical Society. He very much enjoyed local history and tirelessly researched genealogy, historical buildings and homes, cemeteries, and grave markers in its pursuit. A.C. was also a founding member of the Cornerstone Bible Church in Greencastle, PA. In 2012, A.C. was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years. He is survived by his two sons: Erick S. Myers (NC) and Duane S. Myers (Lemasters). AC and his family specifically request that there be no cards, flowers or food. In lieu of these, please donate in his memory to any of the following organizations: Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter http://www.cvas-pets.org/ Doey's House Hospice https://franklinhospice.org/doeys-house/ Fendrick Library in Mercersburg https://fendricklibrary.org/ Coyle Free Library in Chambersburg https://discovery.fclspa.org/ Or, just plant a tree and lovingly care for it in his memory.
