Alfred A. Henneberger, III, 65, of Smithsburg, MD, died October 1, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 19, 1960, he was the son of Karel (Schmid) Henneberger and the late Alfred A. Henneberger, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Brothers, Mark Henneberger of Arlington, VA and Douglas Henneberger of Smithsburg, MD; Nieces, Danielle Henneberger of Washington, D.C., and Katie (Owens) Valerias of New York City; Nephews, Alec Henneberger of Portland, OR and Benjamin Henneberger of Fairfield, PA; and Great Nephews, Dean and Griffin Valerias of New York City.
He became an Eagle Scout, was active in the Potomac Indian Dancers, played percussion in the high school band and in the Hagerstown Municipal Band. He graduated from Smithsburg High school, class of 1978. He served for 20 years as an Electricians Mate first class in the U.S. Navy submarine service, retiring in 1998. Following his Navy career, Alfred worked for Silgan Can Company, SuperHeat, TTI Global Instructional Designer, and GP Strategy, writing instruction and maintenance manuals.
A celebration of life service will be held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 12704 Wolfsville Rd. Smithsburg, MD 21783 on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 11 AM with a reception following. Private burial will be later in the Rocky Gap Veteran's Cemetery, Flintstone, MD.
The family requests no flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 12916 Conamar Dr. #201 Hagerstown, MD 21742, Smithsburg Boy Scout Troop 14, P.O. Box 205 Smithsburg, MD 21783, or to the Boy Scout Camp Sinoquipe 677 Boy Scout Rd. Fort Littleton, PA 17223.
