A celebration of life for Betty Gaither will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Victory Baptist Church, Boonsboro MD at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon at the church.
Betty (Best) Gaither, 91, was peacefully called to Heaven, October 14, 2023. Betty was born on June 30, 1932, in Yarrowsburg MD to Ernest M and Mary E Best. Betty grew up in the Pleasant Valley area of Southern Washington County with her five brothers, Linford, Lee, Tom, Henry, and Bob Best.
Betty graduated from Brunswick High School in 1950. She spent most of her working career at the Bank of Brunswick as a bookkeeper.
In 1953, Betty married Monroe Gaither of Frederick, who preceded her in death in 2018, exactly five years prior to the date of her death.
Betty and Monroe had two daughters, Deb and Linda.
Betty was a faithful Christian who enjoyed attending church and serving the Lord.
Betty was a talented seamstress and avid crafter. She made many outfits for her family, and she enjoyed making crafts and being creative.
Betty is survived by daughters, Debra Lynn Summers and husband, Dwight, Linda Jean Houck, and husband Paul, all of Keedysville MD, Grandson Gary Markle, wife, Alex, and great granddaughters, Emma and Taylor Markle, United Kingdom. She is also survived by Paul Houck, Jr and wife, Heather, Camden, and Carson, Jefferson MD, brother Bob Best of Sebring Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
