Beatrice Lee Hessong (Myers), beloved mother, grandmother, wife and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025 at the age of 81. Born on February 21, 1944 in Hagerstown Maryland, she was the daughter of Merle Myers and Evelyn Myers (Itnyre) and grew up with a belief in Christ, strong family values, hard work ethic, kindness, and a very deep compassion for others, especially her family, that she carried out throughout her life.
Beatrice devoted her life to her family, always placing their needs above her own. She was known for her warmth, strength, kindness, generosity and unwavering love through simple but meaningful acts of kindness. She enjoyed reading, gardening, shopping, and baking.
Beyond her role within her family, she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Smithsburg, Maryland. Beatrice worked for 24 years as a preschool teacher at Trinity Nursery School with a loving commitment and patience to all of the young lives that she touched.
She is survived by her husband Paul Ezra Hessong of Smithsburg Maryland, her children Tammy McLean of Smithsburg Maryland and Gary Wayne Hessong of Frederick Maryland, her grandchildren Erin Lee Hessong of Frederick Maryland, Ryan Paul Hessong of Bradenton Florida, and Reese McLean of Smithsburg Maryland and her sister Jean Spangler of Fayetteville Pennsylvania. A private memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Monday October 13, 2025.
Her memory will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who loved her.
