Bernard Francis Kost

Bernard Francis Kost, 91, of Blue Ridge Summit, PA passed away peacefully Monday, May 5, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife Edna G. (Groth) Kost whom he was married to for 58 years. Born in Springfield, MA., he was the eldest son of Nicholas and Mary (Baca) Kost. Upon graduating from Canton High School Bernie served in the Air Force for four years. He later earned his BS degree in Engineering from The University of Connecticut. In 1958, Bernard excepted a position as an electronic engineer at Hughes Aircraft Corporation, Long Beach, CA, which began a 35-year career working in defense contracting. Bernie spent most of his married life in south eastern Pennsylvania where he raised his family. He was a loving father to his three children; Kathlene (Kost) Crawford and her husband John of Bethal Park, PA, Laura (Kost) Carlisle and her husband Chris of McLean, VA, and Thomas Kost and his wife Megan Warner of Fairfield, PA. He also leaves behind five grandchildren whom he cherished. Matthew Crawford, Kaylin Crawford, Ethan Carlisle, Hannah Crawford and Luke Carlisle. He is predeceased by his sister Eunice and his brothers Edward and James. He leaves behind his sister Barbara. Bernie enjoyed listening to classical music, golfing, reading, vacationing at the beach with his family, talking long walks. One of his hobbies was tinkering with cars and electronics. Private, sensitive, and sentimental, he had a passion for knowledge and discussion of current events. Bernie will be sadly missed. At this time, a private service will be held at Bernie’s home surrounded by close family.
