Obituary

Blake Dean Patton, 65 of Hagerstown, MD passed away on November 16, 2022, at his home and surrounded by family. Blake was born in Parsons, WV on January 27, 1957, to late Marvin Patton and the late Lucy Margaret (Nelson) Caple. Blake grew up in Walfordsburg, Pa. Blake worked at Garden State Tanning in Williamsport for 17 years, where he would meet his wife, Mary Patton. Blake and his wife were also foster parents for 10 years for Washington County. Blake lived a life full of love as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. On any day he could be found sitting on the front porch. He treasured making memories with his family through their yearly vacations and travels. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and tinkering around the house. Blake was adored by his children and grandchildren and was known for his one-line insults and jokes. He married the love of his life Mary, on June 26, 1999. Together they built a life filled with love which they unconditionally shared with their 7 children, 10 grandchildren, and 37 foster children. His laugher, crankiness, and friendship will be missed by all who knew him. His family will miss his hugs, obstinance, and his wonderful listening ears. His loving spirit will never be forgotten. Blake is survived by his wife of 23 years Mary Patton; daughter Kimberly Patton of Baltimore; daughter Melissa Proctor and husband Mark of Hagerstown; son Richard Lance Stump Jr. and wife Kelly of Smithsburg; daughter Ashley Patton and partner Jonathan Hudson of Mercersburg Pa; son Shawn Patton of Hagerstown; son Blake Patton of Iwakuni Japan; and daughter Deborah “Hailey” Patton of Hagerstown; Grandchildren, Sierra, Alicia, Mark Jr., Lily, Victoria, Kayla, Richard “Lance” Stump III, Noah, Jacob, and Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters Debbie L. Golden; Lisa M. Caple, Robin L. Braswell, Lucy M. Conroy, Dixie L. McCusker, and brothers Philip W. Butcher, and Robert C. Caple Jr. As well as best friend Tommy Day, Robin “Rob” Smith, Marie Thompson, Tammy Snyder and husband Bill, and Bobby Kegarise; and numerous nieces and nephews.
