Carl Lee “Tater” Smith, 68, of Cascade, MD, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at his home.
Born August 6, 1956, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Bennie Lee Smith and Rena Imogene (Brown) Smith.
He was a graduate of Catoctin High School class of 1974.
He retired from Architect of the Capitol after serving many tears as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of Cascade American Legion post 239, South Mountain Rod & Gun Club, Eagles Inc, Moose International and The Blue Ridge Sportsman Association.
He enjoyed Golfing, NASCAR, Hotrods, Motorcycles, and taking care of his parents and their farm and especially loved the goats.
Tater is survived by his longtime companion, Sue Wivell, son, Travis Lee Smith, grandchildren, Cole Smith and Callie Smith, stepchildren, Kim, Tony, Daniel, and Wesley, step-grandchildren, Chad, Chloe, Trent, and Bert, step-great-grandchild, Hudson, and many extended family members and friends. Tatter would want to thank his best friend, Dave Gladhill, for all his love and care he has provided to him and his family.
Services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Mark Eyler officiating. The burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cascade, MD.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
