Carlton Eugene Haupt, Jr., 95, of Boonsboro, passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Doey's House, surrounded by loving family.
Born on May 7, 1928, in Mt. Lena, MD, he was the son of the late Elizabeth R. (Lum) and Carlton E. Haupt, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Sister, Audrey E. Mong; and Brother, Roger L. Haupt.
Attending Boonsboro High School he played varsity baseball graduating with the class of 1947.
Carlton began work for Blue Ridge Transportation as a washer and cleaner in 1947. Later working for Potomac Edison as groundman and lineman helper before moving into the metering department retiring in 1985 after 38 years of service.
Carlton was a lifetime member of Mt. Lena United Methodist Church, Boonsboro. He was also a member of the PE Forerunners and the Potomac Edison Quarter Century Club, honoring his over 25 years of service.
His favorite pastimes included being with family and playing music on mandolin, guitar or keyboard.
He is survived by his loving wife, M. Colleen (Poole) Haupt; Son, Gary E. Haupt and wife Carol of Hagerstown; Daughter, Vicki D. Ebersole and husband Dennis of Sharpsburg; 4 Grandsons, Ryan Haupt (Kristin), Eran Haupt (Corinne), Justin Ebersole, and Joshuah Ebersole (Bethany); 6 Great Grandchildren; and Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11 AM at Mt. Lena United Methodist Church, 21234 Mount Lena Rd., Boonsboro, MD 21713 with Reverend Tom Young officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Doey’s House of Washington County Hospice, 11370 Caring Path Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21740; or Mount Lena United Methodist Church, 21234 Mount Lena Rd., Boonsboro, MD 21713.
