Cecelia “Cecy” S. Burdette, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on April 8, 2025, where she was the happiest, at home with her family by her side.
Cecy was born October 3, 1935, in Ebensburg, PA, to the late Francis Edward Stout and Mary Louise (Schenk) Stout.
Cecy was a graduate of Anacostia High School in Washington, DC. She worked for C&P Telephone for many years before meeting her future husband James “Jim” Burdette, 4th of July weekend in 1963. Together they celebrated 59 years of marriage before his passing in 2022. She loved reminiscing about their travels in their later years, taking the family out to dinner, and going every day to the Colonial Restaurant with Jim for their regular table for “Ma & Pa”.
Cecy retired from Fairchild Industries in Germantown, MD. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved drinking her cup of tea, doing crossword puzzles and watching the Hallmark channel. She was an avid reader of all different kinds of subjects. In earlier years, she loved making the grandkids their favorite food, turkey chili, playing cards, gardening, bingo, and playing the football pool with her brother, sisters and nephews.
Cecy is survived by her son Cullen Burdette (Terri), daughter Tina Mussolino (Jeff), grandsons Nick and Tony (Brittany) Mussolino, as well as great-grandchildren, Dash, Jace, and Levi Mussolino, and step great-grandchildren Eva & Julian.
She is also survived by her sisters Patricia Hanger, Christina Stout, Anita Stacey, Lucille Davis, and Sylvia Stout, and brothers David Stout, Merle Stout, Edward Stout, and William Stout. She was preceded in death by her sister Pauline Cooke.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to Cecy's home caregivers, Holly and Corean, for all their love and care, as well as our Hospice nurses and caregiver, Krista, Kelly and Marlee for their love, care and support.
If you wish to make a memorial donation, please support Hospice of Washington County.
At Cecy’s request, no memorial service will be held.
