Charles W. "Butch" Shaffer II, age 83, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 4th at Quincy Village where he resided at for over the past 2 ½ years.
Born on May 24, 1941 in Chambersburg, PA, he was the only child of the late Charles & Gertrude (Pine) Shaffer. He was also preceded in death by his beloved bulldog, Buddy.
Butch loved classic cars & racing. In his younger years, he raced at Port Royal, Bedford, Hagerstown, & Hesston speedway.
He was employed by Grove Manufacturing Company as a maintenance mechanic & machine operator for over 40 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed working on his old cars, mowing the grass, & spending time with his family & friends.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia (Cindy) of Chambersburg, PA: his two beloved daughters, Stephanie Leeper & husband Dave of Gloucester, VA & Jessie Shaffer & Mike Hess of Waynesboro, PA; one grandchild, Matthew Leeper & wife Kelsey of Yorktown, VA & three great grandchildren, Charlie, Kellen, & Maren Louise Leeper.
Family would especially like to thank the Quincy Village Nursing Staff who provided amazing care to him for over 2 ½ years. He grew to care for some of the ladies very much & thought of them as his family as well. We would also like to thank Lisa Beaver of SpiriTrust Hospice, who also provided amazing care to him & services to the family during his final days.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made be made to the Quincy Village Benevolent Fund or to The Antietam Humaine Society in Waynesboro, PA
