Clarence Orndorff, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 28, 1929, he was the son of the late Maurice and Irene (Wivell) Orndorff.
Clarence served in the US Navy (1950-1954) in the submarine service during the Korean War.
He is retired from Mt. St. Mary’s College.
Clarence was a great cook and loved outdoor barbequing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, gardening, playing the harmonica, and family functions.
He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and at Vigilant Hose Company.
Clarence also belonged to VFW Post 6658, American Legion Francis X, Elder Post 121, Amvets, and various local social clubs, and fish and game clubs.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Louise (Miller) Orndorff, seven children, Terry (Doug), Ken (Melisa), Janis (Chuck), Tom (Michelle), all of Emmitsburg, MD; Kevin (Tammy) of Rocky Ridge, MD; Brian (Tracy), and Richard (Lisa), of Fairfield, MD; 12 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Clarence is preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Ryder, sisters, Ethel Long, Pauline Orendorff, Dorothy Joy, Margaret Williamson, and brothers, Karl, Louis, Sterling, and Francis.
Memorial donations in memory of Clarence can be made out to Vigilant Hose Company, 25 W Main St, Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
Service will be private at his wishes.
