Carl Francis "Chub" "Pap" Rugg

Carl F. “Chub” “Pap” Rugg, 92, of Mont Alto, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Michaux Manor, in South Mountain, PA. Born August 29, 1929, in Somerset County, PA, he was the son of the late Harvey and Viola (Bowers) Rugg. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Carl retired from Landis Machine Company of Waynesboro, PA, in 1994 after 28 years of serve. He was a hard worker and devoted man working numerous part-time jobs in his early life, farming, lawncare, logging and in the orchard. On a warm day he could be found sitting on his front porch or visiting with neighbors. He loved to mow and was particular about his lawn. Carl is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Marjorie (Channing) Rugg, three daughters, Cheryl Moatz, Kelly Rugg (John Smetzer), and Kimberly Wolff (Doug), four grandchildren, Gordon Moatz, Jr. (Tiffany Smith), Brittany Carbaugh (Matthew), Adam Wolff (Meredith), and Austin Wolff (Molly Lloyd), six great-grandchildren, Katelyn Moatz, Kelsey Moatz, Elizabeth Moatz, Greyson Moatz, Madilynn Carbaugh, and Norah Wolff, one brother, Clyde Rugg and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Harold Rugg and sisters, Helen Harbaugh, Phyllis Harbaugh and Geraldine Shawley. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
