Carole Cecelia (Howell) Routzahn, 78, of Boonsboro, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 16, 1943, in Downsville, she was the daughter of the late Lee Roy and Emma Cecelia (Mercer) Howell.
Carole attended Boonsboro High School and worked for the Washington County Board of Education Food and Nutrition Services department.
Carole enjoyed spending time with her family and frequently hosted holiday gatherings where she cooked homestyle dishes such as fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. She also enjoyed visiting Ocean City, Maryland and the Amish country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren Alexandra and Garrett Faulkner as well as her daughter Lisa’s miniature schnauzer, Bella.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Harvey Routzahn with whom she was married 62 years, daughters Vicky L. Green and husband Tom of Myersville and Lisa Y. Faulkner and husband Paul of Hagerstown in addition to grandchildren Alexandra and Garrett Faulkner of Hagerstown.
Also surviving are sisters Jessie Ottinger of Hagerstown and Dorothy Phillips of Boonsboro and brothers Calvin Howell of Williamsport and Ralph Howell of Dickerson.
Carole was preceded in death by brothers Joseph and Edgar Howell and sisters, Margaret Shannon, Mary Killian and Neita Norman.
Carole requested there not be a funeral service.
Memorial donations may be made to Micah’s Backpack c/o South County Food Pantry, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church 64 S. Main Street Boonsboro, Maryland 21713.
