Carole (Sites) Peterson Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Carole Lou Peterson, 82, of Hagerstown, MD, on January 24, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.

Born on July 7, 1942, in Martinsburg, WV, to William and Eleanor Sites, Carole grew up in Martinsburg, WV. She attended Martinsburg schools and graduated with the Class of 1960.

On June 19, 1965, Carole married her soulmate, Glenn Edward Peterson, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Cathy Miller (Donnie) and Beth Domenico (James), six grandchildren: Erika Spinks (Garrett), DJ Miller, Morgan Lowman (Marshall), Megan Domenico, Logan Domenico, and Macyn Domenico, and one great-granddaughter, Parker Spinks.

Carole worked at Interwoven Mills and Potomac Edison before choosing to dedicate herself to raising her daughters. She later reentered the workforce and retired from F&M Bank in Hagerstown. Known for her warm heart and gifted hands, Carole had a unique ability to make everyone feel special. Her home-cooked meals and baked treats were legendary, and her love for crafting and quilting brought joy to many.

After retirement, Carole and Glenn embraced their adventurous spirits, traveling the country in their motorhome. They treasured their winters in sunny Florida and the lifelong friendships they formed along the way.

Carole was a devoted lifelong member of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Cavetown, MD, where she served faithfully in various roles and sang in the choir. Her faith and dedication to her church were cornerstones of her life.

She is survived by her daughters, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, sister Nancy Sites, and brother William Sites. Carole was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia Sites.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Viva Senior Living for their compassionate care during Carole’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carole’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association, Hospice of Washington County, or Christ Reformed UCC in Cavetown, MD.

Carole will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
