Charles Edward Holtzman

Charles Edward Holtzman, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, peacefully passed away on January 25, 2026. Born September 25, 1944 in Smithsburg, MD, to Leroy and Katherine Holtzman, Charles was a devoted family man whose quiet kindness touched countless lives.

A 1962 graduate of Smithsburg High School, Charles built a distinguished career spanning decades at Doubleday before concluding his professional journey at Phoenix Color, working until the remarkable age of 80. His unwavering work ethic and dedication exemplified his committment to providing for those he loved.

In his younger years, Charles possessed an adventurous spirit, traveling extensively across the United States. Later in life, he found joy in simple pleasures-tending to his beloved chickens and tinkering on various projects around his property. Those who knew Charles remember his genuine smile, infectious laugh, and remarkable willingness to drop everything to help others. His generosity and selfless nature were legendary among family and friends.

Charles is survived by his cherished wife of 47 years, Kathy; his children, David, Pamela (Jeff), and Charlie (Melissa); grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter (H), Hope, Morgan, David Hunter, McKinsey, and Jack; and great-grandchild, Wesley, who brought him immense joy and pride. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carroll.

Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to family that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Additional details will be shared soon.
