Charles Esten Myers

Charles E. Myers, Jr., 88, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center of Hagerstown, MD. Born March 3, 1932 in Jonesboro, AR, he was the son of the late Charles E. Myers, Sr., and Dena Reba (Burton) Myers. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Southern Missionary University of Tennessee and received his Master’s degree from Nacogdoches Texas University. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1953 – 1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church. Charles was a teacher for over 27 years. He retired from Highland View Academy in 1994 after 14 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna E. (Lee) Myers whom he married July 7, 1957, one daughter, Denise Myers, one son, Charles E. “Chuck” Myers III and wife Penny, grandchildren, Anthony Hayes, Erin Whitcomb and husband Kenny, Linzie Riding and husband Christian and Taylor Myers, and many, many, extended family and close friends. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 2:00pm at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Rodger Lawsen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Charles Myers, Jr., to the Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Dr. Hagerstown, MD, 21742.
