Charles Leroy Stottlemyer

Charles Leroy Stottlemyer, age 95, of Sabillasville, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Charles was the son of the late Ruth (Smith) and Otha Stottlemyer.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Jane (Stottlemyer) Brown; sons Denny Stottlemyer and Gary Stottlemyer; sisters Darlene Tressler, Jean Bitner, Dorothy Bitner, Judy Jones, and infant Maria Stottlemyer; brothers Otha Stottlemyer, Jr., and Bob Stottlemyer; and two grandsons, infant Joshua Stottlemyer and Frankie Bradburn.

A proud veteran, Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1992 from his last place of employment, RR Donnelley in Thurmont, MD.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Shirley Stottlemyer; daughters Joyce Fox (Chuck), Brenda Martin (John), and Yvonne Rickett; son Lemuel Kindle; sister Betty Schroer (Harold); brother John Stottlemyer (Alberta); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, Maryland, with Pastor Jeremy Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow at Ringgold Cemetery in Hagerstown.

Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to the service.
