Cynthia "Cindy" Ann (Davis) Bachtell, 87, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD, surrounded by loving family.
Born on July 9, 1938 in Bermuda, she was the daughter of the late Esther Lucille (Roach) and Leonard Frank Crawford Davis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard G. Bachtell; and Brother, Keith Theo Davis.
Cindy graduated from The Bermuda High School for Girls, class of 1955.
She worked for Esso Standard Oil Co. of Bermuda for several years until she met her husband, Richard, and they moved to Norfolk, VA in May of 1958 to finish his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy.
When they moved to Smithsburg, she worked as a secretary for number of years at S & S Trailer Sales. She started working for the Washington County Board of Education in 1979 at Greenbriar Elementary School until 1982. She then started working at Washington County Job Development Center when it was in Smithsburg until she retired in 2000.
She is survived by 3 Sons, Michael G. Bachtell and wife, Laryssa; Gary L. Bachtell and wife, Cherie; and Richard T. Bachtell and wife, Jennifer; 14 Grandchildren, Bradley Bachtell, Matthew Bachtell, Abby Knode, Nick Reed, Andrew Rhodes, Dustin Bachtell, Brandon Bachtell, Danielle Snyder, J.R. Burgan, Logan Bachtell, Madison Bachtell, Jensen Bachtell, Lucas Bowers and Grace Bowers; 7 great-grandchildren: numerous Nieces and Nephews, and special friends, Debbie and Dan Bakner of Smithsburg.
At her request there will be no viewing and no services.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Somerford Place Memory Care Unit for the excellent care they provided for 2 1/2 years, and April L. Small, NP. and Dr. Allen Ditto, MD for the wonderful medical care they provided to our mother for many years.
