DAVID WAYNE MIKOLAJSKI

David Wayne Mikolajski, 59, of Maugansville, died Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Meritus Medical Center, following a long illness.

Born June 2, 1964, he was the son of the late Leon Mikolajski and Barbara Byron Mikolajski.

He was a 1982 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and ABC Barr Institute.

Until his illness, Dave was employed as a Mechanical Construction Supervisor.

He took great pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed teaching and training others the craft of industrial mechanical plumbing. He received numerous awards and citations over the years.

David had a passion for stock-car racing and could often be seen driving his “5-M” racecar at the Hagerstown Speedway.

He enjoyed both fresh and saltwater fishing, laughing, and enjoying life with his three friends, Brent, Dwight and Tito, who stood by him till the end.

Above all, David loved his wife, Julie, his two sons, his grandchildren and his faithful Rottweiler, Bocephus.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leon, his grandparents, Larry and Dorothy Byron, Samuel and Jean Mikolajski, beloved aunt, Julia Hellane Garrott, father-in-law, Vince Hellane and his brother-in-law, Vince Hellane, Jr.

In addition to his mother, Barbara, he is survived by his wife, Julia Hellane Mikolajski, two sons, Gregory Pheabus and Andrew Pheabus; three grandchildren, Jaxon, Vera and Lilianna Pheabus; sisters Elizabeth McQuaid (Dan) and Christine Pike (Jim); niece, Ellen McQuaid, three nephews; Sam McQuaid, Ethan and Zachary Pike, and his mother-in-law, Nancy Hellane.

Honoring David’s wishes, burial will be private.

A time to come together to celebrate Dave’s life will be announced at a later date.
