DOROTHY HELMAN Obituary

Dorothy Jean Helman, 74 of Hagerstown Md passed away peacefully, Tuesday March 19, 2024 with her husband of 56 years by her side.

Born on October 26, 1949 in Waynesboro PA, she was a graduate of the class of 1967 at Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

Dorothy was a stay at home mother for many years. Her family moved multiple times living in PA, MD, OH, NY, IN, VA, TN and even resided in El Salvador for a period of time.

When she entered the workforce, she would be the employee that every employer dreams of having. She was dedicated to her work and always did a great job. Some of her most recent employment was Citibank in the customer service department where she spent over 23 years. She worked at Macy's in the Valley Mall as a retail associate and her last job before retirement was at Fiserv in Hagerstown. Dorothy made friends with everyone she met, and treated the younger ones like her own.

She is survived by her husband Melvin Helman of Hagerstown. Her son Bradley Helman (w) Jennifer of Hagerstown, Her daughter Sherri Russler (h) Charlie of Hedgesville WV, her 2 Grandsons Garrett Russler (p) Katelyn Keeney of Falling Waters, WV and Curtis Russler of Falling Waters, WV. 2 Great Grandkids Jayce Russler & Journi Russler of Falling Waters, WV. Her siblings Roy Cordell (w) Emma of Chambersburg, PA, Elsie Stoops (h) Glenn of Chambersburg, PA, H. Russell Cordell (w) Francis of Leighton, PA, Fay Adams of Chambersburg, PA, Kay Hite (h) Larry of Chambersburg, PA, Paul Cordell (w) Connie of Greenville PA, Delores Barton (p) Darrell Ebersole of Chambersburg, PA, John Cordell (w) Barbara of Myrtle Beach S.C. and Winston Cordell of Greencastle, PA. Also, numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert Cordell Sr and Charlotte Cordell of Waynesboro PA, and also a sister Mary Kemp.

There will be no services per the request of Dorothy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital as this was Dorothy's favorite charitable organization.
