DOROTHY LEWIS Obituary

Dorothy Delores Lewis, 95, of Stottlemyer Road, Garfield, MD passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at her home. She was the wife of the late Mark A. Lewis.

Born in Wolfsville in September 1929, she was a daughter of the late Elmer J. and Mary Kline Delauter. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm throughout her life and was known as an excellent cook and caring person who always treated others with kindness. She was a member of Garfield United Methodist Church.

Surviving are five children: Sandy Lewis of Myersville, Barbara Lewis of Alexandria, Dennis Lewis and wife Kathy of Smithsburg, Douglas Lewis and wife Sharon of Keedysville, and Kevin Lewis and wife Tammy of Myersville, along with four grandchildren Sara Lewis-Henneke (Paul) of Leesburg, Jennifer Lewis-Nason (Joseph) of Frederick, Mark Lewis and Matthew Lewis of Myersville. Also surviving are brothers Donald Delauter of Southern Pines, NC, George Delauter of Jefferson, and Gene Delauter of Hagerstown. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters Pauline Johnson, Paul Delauter, Joseph Delauter, Thomas Delauter, Francis Delauter, Phyllis Bidle, Clark Delauter, and Beverly Delauter.

Services will be held Monday, January 13, at 2:00 at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg, MD. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Garfield United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Garfield United Methodist Church, 13628 Stottlemyer Road, Smithsburg, MD 21783.
