Deborah Ann (Poffenberger) Toms, 69, of Boonsboro, MD, passed away peacefully at Doey's House in Hagerstown on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
She was a 1974 graduate of Boonsboro High School.
Debbie retired from the United States Postal Service in 2023, after 22 years of service. In the early years, Debbie worked in retail at Two Guys, Channel and Food Lion. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, nieces and nephews in sports and or whatever they were involved in. She also enjoyed making scrapbooks for each of them throughout their years. Debbie enjoyed getting together with her retired postal family.
She was a member of the Boonsboro American Legion, Post 10.
Debbie was preceded in death by her Grandparents, Henry and Geneva Poffenberger, and Raymond and Anna Swain, and parents, William and Mary Poffenberger.
Debbie is survived by her Husband of 32 years, Richard "Dick" Toms; 2 Step Sons, Scott (Stacey) Toms and Michael Toms; Three Grandchildren, Ian, Lauren and Mike Toms; and one Great Granddaughter, Phoebe. Four Brothers, Jeff (Julie) Poffenberger, Doug (Cheri) Poffenberger, Scot (Christie) Poffenberger, Brian (Karen) Poffenberger, and one Sister, Lisa (Mike) Drake. In addition, she is also survived by many Nieces and Nephews.
In accordance with Debbie's wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
