Donald Curtis Shives, 83, of Boonsboro, MD, and formerly of Hancock, MD, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Hospice of Washington County, Doey’s House, in Hagerstown, MD.
Born November 6, 1936, he was the son of the late John W. Unger and Virginia (Hart) Shives. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ralph Shives.
Donald was an avid landscape artist at his home, taking care of over an acre of land at his age. He always liked to give a helping hand to people who needed it. He loved his cat and dog.
In his early years, he and his wife Nancy loved to bowl and was on several bowling leagues together.
He was employed at Henry’s Theater from 1952 to 1963. He then went on to work and retired from Grove Manufacturing of Shady Grove, PA, after 37 years of service.
Donald is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy L. (Huntzberry) Shives whom he married December 14, 1958, three sons, Curtis E. Shives and companion Brenda J. Binkley, Randy W. Shives and wife Vanessa and Michael L. Shives and wife Karen and nine grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by one stepbrother, Marvin Shives and one stepsister, Gladys Barthlow.
