Dorothy May (Fritz) Martin

Dorothy May Martin of Smithsburg, Maryland, departed for her heavenly home on April 4, 2026. Dorothy, 94, passed away at Doey’s House, Hagerstown. Born May 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Lorraine Fritz and Isabel (Garnand) Fritz. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, David C. Martin; Son Terry L. Martin; granddaughter Lindsay Fay; and brothers, Robert, David, and Winston Fritz. Mrs. Martin was a 1949 graduate of Smithsburg High School. She loved God and her family. She was a long-time member of Maranatha Brethren Church, Hagerstown, and enjoyed membership in the Cavetown Homemakers Club for many years. She loved tending her flowers, reading and crocheting. Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Gary Fay of Hagerstown; grandsons Travis (Megan), Zachary (Jami), and Adam Fay; great grandchildren Chloe, Eliana, Jake and Everett Fay; sisters Shirley Harne and Susan Cline; brother Richard Fritz. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11 am, at J. L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, Maryland, with Pastor Adam Page officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Smithsburg Cemetery.
