Dorothy Louise Mongan, 88, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at her Grandson's home in Keedysville, MD, surrounded by loving family.
Born on December 1, 1937 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ethel Viola (McLucas) and Llewlyn Walker Whittington.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving Husband of 65 years, Clyde E. Mongan; Sister, Helen Churchey; and Brothers, Ray, Bob and Bill Whittington.
Dorothy very much enjoyed being a homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, crochet, embroider, garden, and shop.
In addition to being a homemaker, Dorothy worked at various Burger King restaurants throughout the Washington County area. She was given the opportunity to care for the landscaping at several locations and did so well that she was featured in The Herald-Mail newspaper.
Dorothy never stepped foot outside the house without looking her very best. If there was a garment she truly loved but was unable to purchase, she would make it herself.
The highlight of Dorothy’s life was being a nanny to her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was also always willing to help her neighbors, often without even being asked.
Dorothy was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ, and most recently attended Otterbein Church, Waynesboro, PA.
She is survived by her Daughters, Kimberly E. Lynn of Williamsport, MD; Kathy J. Berger (Ronnie) of Waynesboro, PA; and Dodi L. Baker (Billy) of Williamsport, MD; Grandchildren, Dennis Moats (Amy), Kayde Berger, Corey Reasner (Tatiana), Will Baker (Casey) and Noah Baker; Great Grandchildren, Jason and Collin Moats; Sisters, Jean, Betty, Sandra and Wanda; Brothers, Richard and Sam; two sister in laws, Kitty and Becky Whittington and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, December 26, 2025 at 2 PM at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St. Hagerstown, MD 21740.
Arrangements are entrusted to J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD. Online condolences may be shared at www.jldavisfh.com.
