Elwood Wayne Stottlemyer, 68, of Myersville, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at his home.
Born January 15, 1955, in Wolfsville, MD, he was the son of the late Frank V. Stottlemyer and Effie R. (Eccard) Stottlemyer.
He was a graduate of Middletown High School class of 1973.
He retired from the Frederick News Post after 44 years of service and worked for Tire World Wholesale LLC for 6 years after retirement.
He was a member of Grossnickle Church of the Brethren.
Elwood was a loving husband, father, brother, and a proud grandfather. He would do anything anyone asked him to do. He was very quiet with a real desire to love and help others. He had a wonderful work ethic and always did more than his share.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lana K. (Grossnickle) Stottlemyer, son, Andrew W. Stottlemyer, daughter, Amy Flook, his loving grandchildren, Natalie Flook and Shepherd Flook, brothers, Frank Stottlemyer (Nancy), Elvin Stottlemyer (Beverly), Donald Stottlemyer (Susie), George Stottlemyer (Barbie), and Vernon Stottlemyer (Sue Ellen), sister-in-laws, Faye Miller (Francis), and Martha Harshman (Alan), brother-in-laws, Charles Grossnickle (Vickie), Q. David “Jimmy” Grossnickle (Joan), and Timothy Grossnickle (Joyce), and numerous special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Mary Alice Shankle and her husband William Shankle, nephew, Brian Stottlemyer, niece, Shelli Grossnickle, sister-in-law, Donna Stottlemyer, father-in-law, Quentin Grossnickle and mother-in-law, Pauline Grossnickle
Services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 11:00am at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, Myersville, MD, with Pastor Greg Laszakovits officiating. The burial will be in the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00am – 11:00am before the service.
