Edelgard "Danny" Asbury

Edelgard “Danny” Asbury, 81, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

Born in Dieburg, Germany on March 5, 1944, Danny was the beloved only child of Margarete and Heinz Merten. She cherished her German upbringing and carried those memories fondly, yet embraced new adventures when she immigrated to the United States in 1965.

Danny devoted her life to her children and found joy in the companionship of her cherished Pekingese dogs and many cats. She loved traveling, collecting, and spending time with her family.

Throughout her career, Danny worked as a hotel desk clerk, in the mortgage industry, and as a cashier. She was a longtime member, mixologist, and Office Manager of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 35, and later a proud member of FOP Lodge 89 of Prince George’s County.

Danny is survived by her son Robert “Bob” Asbury of Gaithersburg, Maryland; her daughter Lorraine “Lorrie” Schnarrs and husband Jay; and her beloved grandsons Ryan Schnarrs and Eric Schnarrs of Middletown, Maryland.

A private celebration of Danny’s life will be held by her family. Arrangements are entrusted to. J. L. Davis Funeral Home, P.A., Smithsburg, Maryland.

Danny will be remembered for her devotion to family, her love of animals, and her spirited embrace of life.
