Ellen Louise (Alexander) "Pete" Vessa

Ellen Louise “Pete” Vessa, 83, of Smithsburg, MD, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. Born November 12, 1936 in Middletown, MD, she was the daughter of the late John and Lilly (Cooper) Alexander. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Nicholas Clinton “Nick” Vessa on December 14, 2018. They were married December 24, 1953. She attended Smithsburg High School. She was employed by A&P Grocery Store of Waynesboro, PA. She attended Smithsburg Valley Church. She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Kay Vessa and Barbara Ellen Vessa, adopted daughter, Tracy Kendle and husband Barry, adopted grandchildren, David and wife Summer and Kayla and husband Logan, adopted great-grandchildren, Delainey, Calvin and Dawson, brother-in-law, William C. Vessa and wife Sharon, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Betty, Anna Mae, Alice, Lorraine and Rachel. Services will be held Friday, October 30, 2020 at 10:00am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, MD, with Pastor Allen Youngbar officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
